About Jan Goranson
Calgary Authorized Yoga Instructor
Hi, I’m Jan.
I’m a Calgary, Alberta–based yoga instructor who has spent years guiding students in studios, community spaces, and small group settings.
As an authorized yoga teacher, my focus is on helping people build practices that support their bodies, calm their minds, and fit into real life.
Over time, I have found that the most meaningful practice happens in smaller, supportive environments—where students feel comfortable, encouraged, and able to move at their own pace.
That is why I focus on small group classes, private sessions, and community-centered practice.
Whether you are brand new to yoga or have been practicing for years, my goal is to create a space where you feel welcome.
A more personal way to practice
Yoga doesn’t need to feel overwhelming or intimidating to be effective.
In smaller groups and one-on-one sessions, there’s space to:
Move with more awareness
Ask questions
Build consistency over time
This is where real progress happens—not through pressure or perfection, but through steady, supported practice.
My approach is simple:
Create an environment where you can show up as you are, and leave feeling stronger, calmer, and more connected.
Guiding Philosophy
“Encourage one another and build each other up.”
I believe yoga and meditation are practices meant to support real life, not something separate from it.
Through thoughtful guidance and community-centered practice, I create spaces where students feel supported in exploring movement, breath, and stillness at their own pace.
This isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about building strength, finding calm, and developing a practice that feels sustainable and supportive in your day-to-day life.
Why accessibility matters
Yoga has the potential to support both physical and mental well-being in a meaningful way.
I believe those benefits should be available to more people—not fewer.
That’s why I have intentionally built my offerings to be:
Approachable
Supportive
And accessible in both environment and cost
You’ll find small class sizes, personalized attention, and pricing that reflects a commitment to making this work available to more students.
Because the goal isn’t exclusivity—it’s helping people build a practice they can actually maintain.
“Since I started coming in I have seen drastic changes in my body and my mind and I have noticed the impact it has had on the ice and in the gym.
For starters, my flexibility has improved especially in my hamstrings and my groins. I have always had tight hips since I was a young boy so it will take some time but even since May I have noticed good improvement.
With the increased flexibility I have found it easier to get depth in squats and other movements or exercises in the gym.
Furthermore, I found that I am able to recover faster and am much less sore after heavy days in the gym and on the ice.
When it comes to skating and actually playing hockey I feel looser and am able to open my hips better than in previous years. I have also noticed improvements in stride length and feel I am able to generate more power with each stride.
Mentally, I have found it beneficial as yoga challenged me to focus on my breathing and stay in the moment, as soon as my mind would wander is when I would lose my balance.”
