Since I started coming in I have seen drastic changes in my body and my mind and I have noticed the impact it has had on the ice and in the gym. For starters, my flexibility has improved especially in my hamstrings and my groins. I have always had tight hips since I was a young boy so it will take some time but even since May I have noticed good improvement. With the increased flexibility I have found it easier to get depth in squats and other movements or exercises in the gym. Furthermore, I found that I am able to recover faster and am much less sore after heavy days in the gym and on the ice. When it comes to skating and actually playing hockey I feel looser and am able to open my hips better than in previous years. I have also noticed improvements in stride length and feel I am able to generate more power with each stride. Mentally, I have found it beneficial as yoga challenged me to focus on my breathing and stay in the moment, as soon as my mind would wander is when I would lose my balance.
